Building Supportive Relationships in the Classroom and Across the School Community
Circles and Classroom Management Practices brings together a range of initiatives to assist educators to build supportive relationships in the classroom. Developed by experienced facilitators and practitioners in: Restorative Practices, Help Increase the Peace (HIP) and Circles; the training offers participants a rich way of approaching social and emotional development in the classroom.
Circles are a way of developing social and emotional literacy in schools. Whether used once a week for 40 minutes or on a daily basis, circle activities help to develop critical lifelong skills. Whilst once a week will make a difference, the training looks at how to incorporate content within a relational teaching framework to strengthen relationships within the classroom on a daily basis.
Participants will have an opportunity to:
discuss teaching content within a relational teaching framework
design, plan and run a circle time session
develop a range of strategies to build social and emotional literacy
experience many new activities and energisers.
Who should attend? The training is appropriate for anyone working with groups and students of all ages. A special emphasis is place on how secondary teachers can build these strategies into daily teaching practices. Participants will have an opportunity to reflect on what they are learning and to put it into practice within the training.
The training is highly practical and interative. Participants receive a workbook, lunch and morning tea.
Cost per participant: $365 (full payment); $335 (early payment); $300 (3 or more participants from the one organisation).
Max: 24 – although whole schools catered for (quote available on request).
